About us

Here at Happy Hogs Farm, it's always been important to us where our food comes from, and how it's produced. We find Pigs fascinating; their curious shape, their tough rubbery snouts perfectly designed for digging, their inquisitive and playful behaviour and not least their ridiculous attempts at sprinting.

In John’s former life he specialised in outdoor pigs. He left the industry about 7 years ago as the art of animal husbandry was being lost to the pressure of tightening margins.
In August 2005 we had the opportunity to acquire some rare-breed weaners, which were intended to supply the family with pork. These pigs were reared in the manner that we believe is correct and they enjoyed a natural outdoor life, rooting around the orchard, wallowing in their wallows and retiring to the straw filled huts to sleep.

The interest in our pigs grew and eventually resulted in Happy Hogs. Happy Hogs not only offers home grown, rare breed, free range pork, but also professional catering for all occasions and events using our own and local produce.
The truly free range life style enjoyed by our contented and stress free pigs shows in the quality of their meat. The crackling crackles without assistance, the bacon doesn’t shrink, and the fresh joints not only look like proper meat, but taste like it too!
